DAST – Dynamic Application Security Testing
Detect runtime vulnerabilities in live environments
Some flaws exist only while the application is running: a missing security header, a session that never expires, an authorisation check that holds in staging and fails under real load. Dynamic testing exercises the deployed system and finds them.
Scope
What the engagement covers
- Automated and authenticated scanning
- API and microservice coverage
- Multi-step workflow and complex flow traversal
- Session management and authentication bypass detection
- Security header and TLS configuration review
- Scheduled continuous scanning against staging and production
Outcomes
Why teams choose this
Tests what you deployed
Results reflect the running system, including the infrastructure and configuration around it.
Authenticated coverage
We scan behind the login, which is where the large majority of real risk actually sits.
No false positives
Every automated finding is manually confirmed before it is allowed into your report.
Continuous by default
Scheduled scans catch the regressions that appear between annual assessments.
Process
How we work
- 1Environment and scope configuration
- 2Authenticated crawl and flow mapping
- 3Automated vulnerability scanning
- 4Session and authorisation testing
- 5Manual exploit validation
- 6Continuous monitoring setup
Deliverables
What you receive
- Validated findings report with request and response evidence
- Scan configuration including working authentication scripts
- Scheduled scanning pipeline with alerting
- Trend reporting across successive scans
Questions
Frequently asked
Can you scan behind authentication?
Yes. We script the login flow, including MFA where a test bypass is available, and confirm session validity throughout the scan so coverage does not silently drop.
How is this different from a penetration test?
DAST runs continuously and covers breadth. A penetration test runs periodically and covers depth, including business logic no scanner can model. Most clients run both.
